Annie Day 14

This littlle girl is now a part of my family. She was very shy when we went to the M&G at 100 Oaks to make it official on Saturday. She is the only hound that I have known to be afraid of other greys in large crowds. Normally they are attracted to their own kind.

She has now found out about stuffies.....although she takes the little kids and not the big guys! She's toooooo funny when she realizes that the toy will squeak. She also is getting very playful with the little ones. I will continue to watch this closely.

She is still a work in progress but at least she is in her forever home and I couldn't love her more. Welcome home MISS ANNIE ;0)

Miss Annie Day 7

WOW......allot of progress in one week! She is very comfortable now in my home and with my hounds. She gets up with the other greys and all run out together and come back in together. However, she is the baby and exerts allot more running than my senior boys. Nathan and Salty kind of give her that look......been there done that!

Friends have come over to meet her and she has been social and wanting to get attention along with the other dogs. However it doesn't last long and back into the crate she goes. Still no interest in the little chihuahua's. As a matter of fact my little mam "Bubba" all 7 lbs of him has decided that he is now going to be my protector and everytime she attempts to get close to me he barks and scares her off. I hate that he has started this as she is trying to get close to me but it's funny to see this little dog scare her off.

We still have couch time at least once or twice per day when I am here. I have to put her on the couch but she eventual will lay down, snuggle and fall asleep. It's getting longer each time.

The happiest I see her is when I am gone and come home to a wagging tail and happy face with that cute nose pressed into the glass staring out the back door. She now cries when I leave the house so of course this breaks my heart. Still eating well and no accidents in the house.

I removed her stitches on Friday and she was such a good girl. We had chix wings for breakfast this morning and she and my other guys couldn't have loved breakfast more. They are now out for the morning all in their jammies.

I will adopt this sweet little girl and will finalize everything next week. I will continue to update everyone and after I get a new digital will share many pics.

Miss Annie Day 3

Well she is the shyest grey I have ever fostered or adopted and I have fostered over 20 hounds and adopted 4 over the 9+ years with the group.

She came home with me Sunday after the gathering and was so afraid of me that I was actually stunned! When she got out of the suv she ran around the backyard with her head in the air quite scared, puzzled and wondering where am I? I thought to myself how am I ever going to get her in the house when she is afraid of coming to me. I got her back on lead and got her into the house. Miss Annie found Salty's mesh crate and fell in love instantly. Salty is a somewhat shy, spooky boy but nothing in comparison to her therefore keeping the one crate in the house. Now he is a little upset as his favorite place is occupied.

Annie has never had an accident and is free to roam while I am at work along with Nathan and Salty. My 2 little chihuahua's are crated during the day when I am not here. She has a prey drive of 0 unlike my little Zena and will run from the chihuahuah's when they bark.

She now will cuddle with me on the couch (of course with my assistance to get on the couch), meets me at the door when I get home and is following me around more frequently. She let me put on her jammie's this morning (courtesy of Zena) who was the same little size. She still does not care about bully sticks but does like dried chix tenders for treats. She eats well, never leaves a morsel in her bowl although do supplement with safflower and fish oil, yogurt, raw eggs, cottage cheese and veggies to break up the boredom. I am also feeding raw bones on occasion every week as that is what my guys were brought up on but had to switch to kibble due to income and layoffs.

I have fallen for her and this will be her forever home :) I will continue to update every week with her awesome progress.

My card reader is caput so when I get a new one I will send pics!

My little hound dog

Oh, that sweet girl Annie!!

She heard about the Winter Gathering, and knew it was an Elvis hound-dog day celebration. Annie practiced and practiced so she'd have the perfect hound-dog look. She knew if she did it just right, she just might head home.

Whatcha think? A good hound dog?

Well, Annie's hard work paid off, and she got her wish. My sweet, shy, adorable little foster girl Annie went home!! I will miss this little girl - my heart melts with the shy ones. Annie was a total joy to foster ♥♥

Exploring my new kennel

Annie and Torie were introduced to the "rest of the kennel" this afternoon, and Annie did GREYT!!

She's a little timid by nature, and stuck close to Torie at first.

It was a little train of butt sniffers!
Annie... Triple... Torie

Annie met everyone and did fine!

After the introductions, Annie began to explore and an early stop was the kitchen, right behind Torie.

Annie relaxed pretty quickly - quicker than I expected.
She's a DARLING little girl - she weighed a tiny bit over 50 lbs yesterday - and loves to be loved ☺

Annie has claimed an upstairs bed as her own, and I have to say, she's pretty adorable in it!!

Hi. I'm Annie. Ooowww, everything is so strange and that makes me a little nervous. The humans have been very nice but I don't understand anything.

First, I woke up in my regular kennel-home, and then I rode in 2 funny haulers with my friend Torie.

We ended up in a really strange kennel. The human said everything was OK but I still worried a lot. We had a big turn-out area - just for us - and our own kennel space and really strange things called mirrors and sofa and washer and so much!! It was very scary at first, but pretty soon I felt happy and safe. I think I'm really a very brave greyhound.

But then, the human put us in that strange hauler and pretty soon we were in a... hospital. The humans were nice but it was all scary again!

All I remember is being on a table... the humans were talking to me and ....

I don't know what happened then. I slept a lot and humans were looking at me and I kept falling asleep. Then I felt more awake, and they gave me food and I was hungry and I ate - yummy.

I felt better and slept, and then before long I was back in the funny hauler. And there was Torie, my friend!

We are back at our fancy kennel again. I'm glad to be here. It's more quiet, and I feel safer here. I had a BIG dinner, and now I'm going to have a nice nap. Goodnight, humans.

Annie, I think I've been spayed :-0

M&G time

Going to a M&G this morning was probably the last thing on Annie's "Want to do" list!!! Annie is so much better now with me around the house, but she's not yet confident enough to take such a new event in her stride. Tail tucked and huddling next to her foster-mate Torie, she endured.

She did finally relax more and met many people.

No question, Torie was her best friend, though.

Annie is a darling girl and as she is exposed to more people and events like this, I really think she'll start to enjoy them more. I haven't told her that the Winter Gathering is next week!!
